August 25th 6:30 pm
Focused on supporting a slow and mindful approach to physical, mental, and emotional well-being, Kunye will be hosting a movement class alongside artwork in the gallery.
Kunye is on a mission to bring wellness and embodiment into the community to bridge the gap between self and community care. Blending mindfulness, culture, and community, our experiences focus on connection - with yourself, others, and the surrounding environment - to cultivate a compassionate and uplifting experience. Kunye's in-person and virtually, our pop-up and seasonal sessions offer a new perspective on health and healing.
WELLNESS MEETS CULTURE
WHY THE MOVEMENT?
The Movement takes mindfulness and movement practices out of the studio and into urban spaces. Kunye's aim is to dismantle the idea of the traditional wellness space, and help break down barriers of access to the practices and their wisdom.
The Movement was created as an antidote to the wellness industrial complex - mainly the formula of an elite few narrating the wellness experience. It feels less like rolling out your mat and practicing next to a stranger, and more like coming home to yourself in a supportive community of like-minded individuals. We come together to create ripples of change - first in our bodies, then in our mind, and ultimately in our communities.
WHAT TO EXPECT
YOUR MINDFULNESS, MOVEMENT, AND MEDITATION PRACTICE.
Each session begins with a Self Check-in question and dive into conversation as a group. The topics change with each session and we’re not afraid to explore topics that are taboo. From there, the connection we have begun to cultivate and an inspired playlist become the undercurrent of the experience as we move into the movement practice. Finally, we end with stillness - alone with our breath but in the presence and support of the community.
